Clevedon Art Club invites everyone: professional artists, non-members, and both its amateur and professional members to submit works-of-art for the annual show.

Three invited art-world professionals review each piece in turn. Only their chosen 'selected 300', go into the show and are displayed.

• Handing-in: TUESDAY 13th August 10:00am – 2.30pm
• Private Members Only View: FRIDAY 16th August 6.00 – 8.30pm
• Open to the Public from: SATURDAY 17th August to MONDAY 26th August
• Show open from 10.30am – 4.00pm
• Collection: TUESDAY 27th AUGUST 10am - 1pm ONLY [A handling charge of £10 per item will be levied on works not collected on time.]

1. The submission process will be made entirely on-line and close at 5:00pm on the 28th July. • If you have difficulty in making your application contact us by email at Exhibitions@ClevedonArtclub.co.uk
2. Works must be delivered to the exhibition venue on TUESDAY August 13th between 10:00am-2.30pm. You must also have paid the appropriate submission fee to the Club by bank transfer using the details on the entry form.
3. All works will be subject to selection; selected works will be hung subject to available space – and the organisers’ decisions will be final.
4. All works must have been made by the artist submitting them.
5. We will accept:
• Up to FOUR ORIGINAL WORKS at a minimum selling price of £50, only ONE of which may be ‘Not for Sale’.
• We accept works up to 36” ALONG ANY SIDE, INCLUDING FRAMING, (paintings, drawings, etchings, original prints, lithographs, collages, enamels, ceramics and sculptures).
• NEW: In additional 2x pieces of work ABOVE 36”, BUT NOT EXCEEDING 48” ALONG ONE SIDE, INCLUDING FRAMING, (paintings, drawings, etchings, original prints, lithographs, collages, enamels, ceramics and sculptures). You MUST supply an easel when you hand it in, so we can display this larger format.
• Digital works of art may only be entered if a Standard Certificate of Uniqueness is attached to the work. This Standard Certificate of Uniqueness is a statement by the artist that they are both, as a whole and in parts of the artwork, it's only creator. The artist promises to offer only ONE physical representation of the work for sale, with the clearly visible fingerprint or signature in paint or ink at the front.
• Watercolours, pastels, prints and drawings must be glazed and framed, using picture glass only or framed perspex (see below).
• NB; All pictures must be ready to hang, in strong frames with secure ‘D’ RINGS to which picture cord (NOT WIRE) is securely attached. The cord must not reach above the picture frame. • Unframed oils or acrylics on canvas will be accepted if prepared ready to hang as above.
Labeling:
# Works must be clearly marked on the back with Title, Medium, Artists Name and Sale Price, (or NFS if not for
sale).
# Also, a white luggage-type label must be firmly attached with string to hang approximately 6 inches over the front of
each picture, showing the Title, Medium, Artists Name (but not address) and price (or NFS) as for the
catalogue and stating whether Member or Non-Member.
We will NOT Accept:
• Works which have been copied from any paintings, books, postcards, calendars, photographs or other published work or copyright material.
• Giclée prints, copies, or reproductions.
• Artworks behind unframed glass/Perspex (ie, held by clips) • Artworks hung with wire, or cords attached other than by D-Rings, or insecure frames.
• Works previously hung in one of the Club’s Open Exhibitions
• We regret that work by deceased artists cannot be accepted.
Sales: A Commission of 10% MEMBERS, 20% NON-MEMBERS. Net proceeds will be remitted after the Exhibition. Selection: All works submitted by artists will be subject to a selection process.
Selection will be by three external assessors of independent and professional standing whose decision is final. Selection or non-selection cannot be notified.
Prizes: Each selector will nominate a prize winner for their preferred artwork. The Jean Kent Prize for Artistic Merit, inaugurated at the 50th Open Exhibition in 2006, will be then be awarded to an outstanding work of art submitted by a Club Member. The prize will be decided by consensus between the three exhibition selectors. There will also be awards to chosen students of Clevedon School. A selection of the winning students’ work will be exhibited. Artwork voted as Favourite by the Public will also be awarded.
Collection: All works that have not been selected for exhibition or unsold works when the exhibition is closed will only be handed over against a receipt; any works collected by a third party must bring the appropriate Authorisation. • Unselected work may be collected during the Exhibition, except on Preview Night.
• Works exhibited and not sold MUST be collected on: TUESDAY 27 th AUGUST between 10.00 am. and 1.00 pm. A handling charge of £10 per item will be levied by the Club on artworks not collected on time.
NOTES Clevedon Art Club may, without any breach of copyright, take photographs or other images of any item selected and exhibited at the exhibition and use the same for its own records, for advertising the Club’s activities and for use on the Club’s website. Completion of the on-line submission form permits Clevedon Art Club to hold the personal details submitted by the artist to be held on file by the Club and used for the Club’s activities as stated in the Club’s Rules and Constitution. Clevedon Art Club will not share this information with any other party.
Clevedon Art Club does not insure the artworks before, during or after the exhibition and disclaims all liability for loss or damage to the artworks, however and by whom caused; for this reason all artists should make their own loss or damage to works Insurance. Completion of the on-line submission form means that the artist expressly accepts all the conditions and rules set out herein and agrees to be bound by them.
