Julie Mainstone
Watercolour painting has been my passion for over 35 years. I have
exhibited and sold work throughout the South West of England and received
numerous commissions. I run Watercolour Classes in Nailsea, Wraxall and
Portishead and held an exhibition which included work by my students at
Clevedon Pier in 2013.
My inspiration comes from a love of colour, texture and in particular the
loose spontaneity of the medium of watercolour. I also use acrylics, pencil
and pastel...sometimes a combination of all of them. I am particularly drawn
to Cornish subjects and the sea.
Wild Afghan is my largest painting to date measuring 1m x 1.2m. I prefer to
work larger as I find greater freedom for the paint to be used expressively.
