Outdoor Painting Explorations; With Sam Broughton

Part location based, part room based, this landscape workshop will introduce you to new ways of interpreting the natural environment.

Pour, Drip and Splash

Working directly outdoors you will be guided through techniques that use mark making to express movement, energy and form. You don’t need to be an experienced painter, just passionate about experimenting and willing to get your boots a bit muddy!

‘There is a physicality to my work, as each mark I create aims to express my response to the energy of a particular place. I pour, drip and splash the ink across the paper whilst controlling the flow by gently manoeuvring the large sheets’

Each painting is a result of my experience of a particular location and aims to evoke in the viewer a deep sense of place.
